Daemon and Katy are together. But they are still very affected by the death of their friend.
They are aware of an organization that is testing hybrids. They are also aware the onyx is extremely dangerous to them.
When Blake comes back insisting he has a way in into where Beth is captive, Dawson jumps at the idea.
We meet new characters and a new stone that can increase their powers.
The end of the book is heart wrenching and I can't believe I need to wait that long for the next book.
Katy's and Daemon's romance is beautifully crafted. Daemon keeps on being sarcastic but also very sweet and romantic. He will do anything to keep "Kitten" safe.
4.5/5 Fangs - just because I hate cliffhangers.
Katy now shares a connection with Daemon. She has become a hybrid. She also thinks that the connection with Daemon is affecting her feelings for her. She is trying to keep him at arms length. It is pretty hard when she falling for Mr. Allien.
To makes things more edgy the Department of Defense is in town and if they find out that Daemon is powerful and that Katy has powers now, they may take them both away.
They also have to think about a human/allien relationship won't be welcome in the Lux society. Also, there is a new boy in school. He immediately seeks Kathy and tells her that he can help her.
She begins training with a not so happy Daemon.
Daemon makes fun of Blake by changing his name constantly. And he is extremely jealous of his time with Katy.
Who is deceiving who?
This is a second great book in the series. Love the bad boy Daemon and his banter with Katy.
“I didn’t move that chair, Kitten.”
“I’m assuming you didn’t like where it was?”
“It was in your way,” I said. My hands were still curled around his arms.
“I can see that.” Daemon smoothed a fingertip over the curve of my bottom lip before taking my hand, pulling me up. Letting go, he watched me carefully and waited. Waited for…
What had happened slowly sank in beyond the fog in my brain. I’d just kissed him. Again. And right after he’d taken over my date with another guy—the guy I should be kissing. Or not. I didn’t know anything anymore.
“We can’t keep doing this.” My voice shook. “We—”
“We like each other,” he said, stepping forward, grasping the edges of the table on either side of me. “And before you say it, we were attracted to each other before I healed you. You can’t say that’s not true.”
He leaned in, his nose brushing my cheek. A shudder rolled through me. His lips pressed against the spot under my ear. “We need to stop fighting what we both want.”
When Kathy knocks on her next door neighbor's door she can't close her mouth. The boy in front of her is gorgeous with beautiful green eyes. When he starts talking she wants him to close his mouth. Daemon Black comes out as an arrogant pretty boy.
This is some ways change through the book.
It turns out Daemon and his twin sister Dee (who becomes Kathy's best friend) are alliens. They are Luxen. Some part of the government knows about them and even provides funds to them. They can manage the light. Their enemies are the Arum and they can handle the shadows.
When Daemon saves her life, she becomes like a beacon to an Arum. In order to survive, she will need to stay close to Daemon.
I like Katy as a character. She is not defenseless. She can banter with Daemon till next new year. I also like that she has a blog and reviews paranormal, UF books. I love when Daemon calls her Kitten.
The plot was good and it kept my interest to the end.
When I started reading, I didn't know Daemon was an allien. So this is my first book about alliens. Happily surprised.
The sequel started with Lexi in bed with Mystery Man, when she receives a call. Guess who? nope, not the bastard. This time it is Ramsey and he asks her to come to Jack's wedding. At first she says no. But she ends up back in Atlanta. A year has passed and she was with Ramsey but after she found out some lies about him, she left him.
Bekah is still evil and Jack keeps on messing with Lexi's head, confusing her more. It is painful to read how the relationship is so self destructing.
I love the ending of this book. It was very satisfying. The twist at the end was remarkable. Love Ramsey even more.
I just hope that the next one doesn't bring Jack again.
4/5 Fangs in punishment/deceit/closure/excitement.
Background: Alexis or Lexi has been in a relationship with Jack (bastard!) for six years. If you ask them- they were never together. After two years of not hearing from him, he calls her and asks her for help with his current girlfriend Bekah. Bekah wants to meet all his ex-girlfriends and try to understand his lack of commitment.
Lexi discusses this with her best friend Chyna. Who convinces her to go to get some closure.
We get flashbacks of their relationship. The people they hurt during the ride. The errors they both make.
Bekah is evil, but her brother Ramsey is the opposite. I really found myself wanting him to be her HEA. Take that Bekah!
4.5/5 Fangs angst and heartache
When Storm discovers his chauffer is a young lady and not a man. He feels betrayed. Later on he thinks Dani may be his salvation. His family wants him to get married and Dani can be his fake fiancee for a while.
Dani agrees to the proposition but found herself more attracted to Storm.
This is a fun, fast little book. Predictable, but we love some predictable HEA, don't we?
When Connor convinces her to stay married to him. She decides to give him a chance. She has been hurt in the love department and is not ready for more punishment. Connor woos her and its the perfect husband.
But if she falls for him, can things be better?
Light read, fast paced. Not believable but sweet for the most part.
She gets into a greyhound bus heading north. In the bus, she meets Andrew Parrish, who is going to visit his dying father. They begin a friendship of sorts. She meets the other brothers when they get to the hospital.
Then, they decide to take a car and go down to Texas. Cam starts falling for this guy and Andrew shows her spontaneity and opens her eyes to life. However, Andrew has a horrible secret he is keeping from her. And when she finds out it can hurt her deeply. He just can't stop falling in love with her either.
I enjoyed this book. Love Andrew from the get go. Love the HEA idea.
Spoiler Fangalert: Not to be a downer but how are they going to sustain themselves and the baby? At some point they need to keep a job long enough to get health insurance, right? Is getting pregnant so fast a good thing?
Alessandro was blackmailed into the marriage by Theresa's dad. He believed she was on it too. When he finds out she is not, his perspective changes and he wants to try to save his marriage.
With the worse timing ever, Theresa discovers she is pregnant and only if the baby is a boy, Sandro can be released from this contract.
Half of the book is dedicated to Sandro trying to make amends and he does redeem himself. Little things he does like buying her prenatal vitamins when she forgets to do so. Asking her to give him some quality time together.
Sandro does so many things to make it up to her, that the reader ends up forgiving him.
It is the story of Annabelle Coakley who is a lawyer. She is all business no time for fun or love. Her world changes when her mother tells her she is getting married again. Annabelle flies immediately to Georgia to stop the wedding.
Clay Castleberry is a business man, he can't believe his dad is getting married again (7th time). He also flies there to stop his father from making another mistake. He has dealt with his prior flings by paying them off.
When Clay meets Annabelle, he mistakes her for the bride to be and offers her money. Annabelle declines but she doesn't tell him who she is until both of their parents show up.
Many misunderstandings prevailed, causing multiple funny, embarrassing moments.
Of course Annabelle and Clay fall for each other. They just have to be able to verbalize it.
He was saved by his brothers after being tortured by his mother and vampires. He is part vampire, but he hates vampires.
He also doesn't sleep with humans. But when he is infected with a deadly virus and the only antidote is a charm and a human's virginity, his decision is easily made.
Serena Kelley is an archeologist, she works for the Aegis and is following a relic, she meets Josh, an Adonis kind of perfect. Josh is really Wraith, who starts developing feelings towards Serena.
Serena has had the charm since she was seven. She will die without it. She has childhood sickness that its at bay until she looses her virginity.
This is what Miss Ione does, who will sacrifice their life for the other one to survive. Tough choice. But to makes things more interesting a Fallen Angel has decided that Armageddon should happen in his hands and stealing Serena's charm is the beginning.
I like all the brothers but Wraith reminds me of Zhadist which is my favorite BDB brother. So he had me at tortured soul.
Can enemies become lovers?
Many twists happen and all are welcome. Tayla also meets her long lost sister who is part demon.
The world building is fascinating and the secondary characters are great. Can't wait for their stories.
This was a great beginning to the series.
Vere has had a crush on Curtis for years. She has been teased non stop at school for it. When she meets Hunter, she has no idea who he is. But his brother does. When she is told that Hunter needs a disguise she decides to make him into a dork. Everyone believes Hunter is Dustin McHugh.
At the beginning Hunter is very upset about what his mom is forcing him to do. But after he is done with his new disguise and meets Vere, he is not sure this is not a good thing for him.
The more they get along and they open their hearts, the more Hunter falls for Vere. He knows he can stay forever, and he is trying to help Vere overcome her shyness and possible lossing her to Curtis. But, how long can he keep his feelings secret?
I recommend this book. It was fun reading the unmaking of Hunter. Vere was naive and sweet girl. The kiss was the best.
Her grandmother Verda decides to pass her the gift of magic on her birthday. It manifest through her baking (ex husband will be the first to experience her magic- in a not so fun way).
After too many margaritas, she losses her keys to the apartment and ends up getting stuck in her window. Her new neighbor, Nate Sutherland, who is a cop, helps her getting her back in. She immediately feels chemistry with him.
Once she realizes that her magic is real, she cast a few spells. But, there are repercussions to all of them.
This is a fun, light read.
Kanin is the master vampire who saves her. When they are separated, she comes into contact with a human group who is looking for the cure. Part of the group is Zeke Crosse, he is loyal, truthful and a leader. For Allie is hard to keep up pretending to be human.
I like the world building and that the vampires are not portrayed as soft beings. I wished there was more Kanin in this book and more Zeke/Allie interaction.
When a new boy is transfered to her school and he turns out to play football, position as a quarterback, it makes her life confusing since she starts having girly feelings towards him.
Her brother also plays the sport and her dad is a NFL player. He supports his son but not his daughter. Or so it seems.
When Jordan starts dating Ty, her relationship with Sam Henry starts to break. Henry has been her best friend and until Ty appears in her life, she didn't know how important he is to her.
This book is about dreams and waking up to the real world. It was entertaining and I thought Jordan was written in a perfect way.
Runa is the girl whom he started having feelings for a year ago. He broke her heart when she found him in bed with two vampires. When she fled the apartment, she was then attacked by Luc and became a werewolf.
To make matters worse they are spelled to become life mates. This triggers the beginning of the curse or Maluncoeur. The "curse that promised if he fell in love, he'd slowly fade away until he became invisible to everyone. He'd live forever, wracked with stabbing hunger pangs, debilitating thirst, and unbearable sexual desire for all eternity."
There is the issue of Runa not being able to bond with someone who is not a werewolf too.
We catch up with the brothers, the Hospital UGH, and all the secondary characters.
The series gets better. The banter between brothers is fun to read. Reminds me of BDB at times.
